The Locale

The Bristol Bay watershed of southwest Alaska provides the ultimate setting for one of the most awesome fishing adventures you will ever experience. You'll enjoy "flight seeing" via private turbo-prop charter thru the Chugach Mountain’s Lake Clark pass to Lake Iliamna, located 180 miles southwest of Anchorage. You [ass Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Iliamna, two of the active volcanos in the famous Alaska Coastal Range. This land of wilderness wonder is home to Alaskan brown bear, moose, wolf and wolverine, fresh water seals and the largest Salmon runs on the face of the earth. Nestled between Lake Clark National Park and Katmai National Park, you'll cast your lines at the biggest and most astounding rainbow both shinning above the lakes and streams and those swimming in crystal clear waters.

The Accommodations

Rainbow Bay Resort is a family-owned and operated lodge catering to small groups of 8 to 12 guests per week--offering a high level of personal service.  This rustic cedar lodge has five private bedrooms, each with a private bath and shower.  The massive great and dining rooms are decorated with Alaskan fish mounts as well as Alaskan and African big game mounts.  Large decks at the front and back of the lodge offer majestic views of beautiful Lake Iliamna and the surrounding mountains that thrust 5,000 feet up from the lakes surface.  Freshly-prepared meals include prime rib, Alaskan king crab, inch-thick pork chops, salmon and halibut, and are topped off with delicate red and white wines.

The Hunt

The lodge offers classic Alaskan fly-out fishing in a privately-owned Cessna 185 and Super Stinson float planes. We're talking about access to some of the most remote trout and salmon lakes and streams in Alaska.  Several world-class rainbow and char streams are accessible from the lodge by jet boats only and untouchable by any other means.  In addition, the Bristol Bay area is world-renowned for arctic grayling, sea run dolly varden, huge northern pike, halibut and all five species of salmon .  It's not unusual to catch seven or eight species of fish in a week’s stay, with bald eagles and brown bears fish in the immediate background.
