The Locale

Argentina is famous for its diverse landareas--one of which the most famous is called the Pampas. Starting in the northwestern part of the province of Buenos Aires--the area is known for fantastic waterfowl hunting. It features plenty of small lakes and irrigation ditches that are located next to endless farm lands and grain fields--a haven for migrating ducks. It is here that Estancia La Escondida is situated. The Estancia is located well off the beaten path and about six hours from Buenos Aires driving. But it sure to please even the most serious duck hunters with extremely liberal limits.

The Accommodations

La Escondida is another one of the charming Argentine early 20th-century estancias that create perfect settings for traveling duck hunters. Its particular location gives you plenty of different shooting possibilities with very little shooting pressure. The lodge consists of six double rooms with four bathrooms. It features separate dining room and lounge area, complete with a fire place plenty of areas to relax in between the morning and afternoon shoots. Being one of the River Plate wing shooting destinations, you can expect gourmet dining and first-class service throughout your stay.

The Hunt

Once arriving in Buenos Aires, you'll be assisted through customs. After a picturesque thre-hour ride, you'll stop for lunch and change clothes for the afternoon duck hunt. Then, you'll drive another 45 minutes were you'll stop and hunt ducks till dark. After the hunt, you'll drive the remaining hour-and-a-half to the lodge, arriving in plenty of time to settle, take a shower, and have a cocktail before the evening’s meal. The following three days are full duck hunting days with liberal limits both in the mornings and afternoons. The last day, you'll pack up and head out for the mornings duck hunt, which will be on the way back to Buenos Aires to help break up the drive. The morning hunt usually lasts until everyone has shot there allotted shells, followed by a filling lunch along the way.  To ensure top quality hunting, you’ll change swamps areas every day of your adventure.
